What is a Tippy Tap?
A tippy tap is a simple, low-cost solution to washing your hands in rural areas where there’s no running water. Built from simple, salvageable materials, they are hands free, meaning they reduce the risk of spreading germs. Not only that, but they only use a tiny amount of water, about a tenth of the amount you’d use washing your hands with a mug, which makes them ideal for areas where clean running water is a precious and scarce commodity.
Our partners in Kenya, ReAct Africa and Ace Africa, through the Tippy Tap Kenya initiative, work with primary school children in rural Kenya, providing them with the materials and knowledge they need to build their own tippy taps, so they can pass on their skills to others in their community.
Their project hopes to reach 600 of the most vulnerable households. But to do that, they need your help.
